How the Elephant got his trunk

Once upon a time, there was a sad elephant. He was dirty and stinky, because he could not reach to wash his back. All the other animals didn’t play with him because he was elly.

Elephant sat under a tree, where nobody could see him. He started to cry. His head was hanging down, crying big tears. He sat and cried for days. One day, when his tears had dried up, he went to itch his head and he felt a bump on his back. Then he notd his nose had stretched because it had got wet with all the crying and it was now a long trunk which had hit him on his back.

He went to the river and got his trunk, put it in the water and sucked the water up. Then he sprayed his back with water.

All the other animals came over to him and said “you are so clean and ell so lovely. Do you want to play with us?”

The elephant was so happy and said “yes.”

Nothing is difficult if you put your heart on it. Nothing is easy if you don’t try your best.

We often hear people say, “Nr give up.” This can be encouraging words and words of determination. A person who belis in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to he. Therefore, I beli that we should nr give up.

One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achi anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at soming new, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to dlop new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should nr give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we he learned is wasted. Finally, we should nr give up because as we work to reach our goals, we dlop confidence, and this confidence can us succeed in other areas of our lives.

Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, tw failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.

He could he quit many times - but he didn't and because he didn't quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.

Lincoln was a champion and he nr ge up.
