旧金山渔人码头，原来是渔民出海捕鱼的渔港，聚集了众多的渔民，但是到了60年代，从这里出海捕鱼的渔获量减少，码头渐渐地失去了它的功效;再后来，旧金山渔人码头被经过商业的包装，逐渐形成了独具特色的休闲、文化地段，有众多的商场、购物中心和饭店聚集在此地。如今，旧金山渔人码头已经演变成的旅游观光景点，而且国内也有很多地方模仿的，比如澳门、大连、上海等地，均有渔人码头。
